History

The Big Ten Fund Raisers Institute was founded in 1963 by the directors of the development of the Big Ten conference universities - Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, and Wisconsin.

BTFRI was the first educational conference specifically designed for development professionals in public higher education. It has an alumni body of more than 1,500 members from institutions in all 50 states and five Canadian provinces. Many have participated more than once.

The combination of a relaxed atmosphere and a comprehensive curriculum enhances the learning environment. In addition to the faculty, several registered participants serve as guest presenters, sharing experiences in their specialties.
