What is BTFRI?

The Big Ten Fund Raisers Institute offers our profession a concentrated retreat where fundraisers share challenges, successes, techniques, and methods in meeting our common goals. As fundraising in our society increases in scope and depth, this interaction is crucial to staying current in the field.

BTFRI provides a forum of shared experience. A series of comprehensive sessions focus specifically on public institutions of higher education, and offer insights into all aspects of the field. For three and a half days and four evenings, you will share new techniques and proven methods with guest presenters, experienced faculty, and colleagues from around the country at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan.

What will you GET?

Newcomers to the profession will:

-   Acquire a solid foundation in all aspects of educational fundraising.
-   Benefit from the knowledge and experience of the seasoned professionals among the faculty and participants, including informal one-on-one and small-group sessions with faculty members.
-   Broaden their horizons and their contacts among development officers at public institutions.

Experienced development professionals will:

-   Benefit from the exchange of ideas and experiences with the institute faculty and with their peers in our rapidly changing profession.
-   Renew their perspectives in a private productive setting, away from the interruptions of their regular routine.
-   Learn creative ways to handle common problems, and invigorate their enthusiasm for fundraising.
